The Third Sunday of Advent

"The stars are singing too / As they did long ago / When history went askew," I write in "The Third Sunday of Advent." That poem has just been published in the new Dappled Things magazine, along with my long -- and I hope definitive -- account of Jacques Maritain and the ontology of beauty ("Jacques Maritain’s Art and Scholasticism and the Recovery of a Beautiful World").

"Third Sunday" is the fourth in my six-poem Advent and Christmas sequence to be published. The first two "Sundays" appear in the final section of Some Permament Things, while "The Christmas Preface" appeared last Christmas in First Things.  The whole series will be brought together in not my next book of poems but the one to follow.

To read the whole poem, please click the picture above.  Won't you please also consider supporting my work, by purchasing a copy of Some Permanent Things?  To do so, click on the book cover.
