My "Jacques Maritain" Wins the Jacques Maritain Prize (Almost)

6/13/2017

I have just been informed that my recent essay, "Jacques Maritain's Art and Scholasticism and the Recovery of a Beautiful World," is runner-up in Dappled Things' annual Jacques Maritain Essay Prize.

My thanks to Sally Thomas, who judged this year's contest; to the editors of Dappled Things, who work so selflessly to give the Catholic literary imagination a place to unfold; and to Daniel Mitsui, whose marvellous essay received a well-deserved first prize.

My essay is, in part, a summary and, in part, a further working out of the discussion of Maritain and the metaphysics of beauty to be found in The Vision of the Soul: Truth, Goodness, and Beauty in the Western Tradition.
